Top gospel acts for Mukaro album launch

EMERGING gospel songbird Tafadzwa Mukaro’s latest album — Vanondichengeta — could not have come with greater endorsement with a star-studded line up of Machanic Manyeruke, Michael Mahendere, Olinda Marowa and Bethen Pasinawako-Ngolomi set to grace the launch on Friday.

The eight-track offering is the third in the musician’s discography after Mwari Anesu and Tomurumbidza.

Mukaro told NewsDay Life & Style yesterday that she was excited to be supported by seasoned artistes.

“This is a great honour, to be supported by such big artistes at my third album launch, who are not only celebrated on the local scene, but also on the international front,” she said.

“Having an engagement with such top artistes who have vast experience in the industry is a great opportunity for one to learn and grow a career.”

Mukaro said her compositions were inspired by the word of God, to whom she said she was grateful for the gift of composing songs and the message impressed upon her heart.

“I compose songs from inspiration and my personal experiences so, as a result, I share to strengthen and inspire others. It has been a great journey of self-discovery and growth, which I am thankful to God for,” she said.

Cool gospel from the east by Tafadzwa Mukaro

WHAT will catch the ear of music fans is a deep sense of sincerity pouring out of the rich voice in the songs of upcoming gospel musician, Tafadzwa Mukaro (pictured), which all but reveal her way of life as she says it —she has lived and lives for the gospel...

Her originality, the flowless and smoothened manner of the compositions aptly exhibit a singer whose composing prowess has been perfected during her days at Africa University in Mutare.

As proven by the quality of her music, that the former Hartzell schools’ pupil was part of the Africa University choir that toured the United States in 2004 is no surprise.

The valuable experiences at Africa University, where she graduated with a BSc in Education in 2006, planted a seed in her to sing for the Lord, which she said was founded on her “natural desire to express her love for God musically”.

Tafadzwa Mukaro redefines gospel music videos

The much touted launch of rising gospel diva Tafadzwa Mukaro’s new video for the song “Ndashanda” has come and gone, leaving excitement in its wake.

That is not least because the artiste exhibited growth in her skills from the ordinary run of the mill type gospel music video making to serious professional scripting.

Put together by director Slim Magombedze, the video has been warmly received for its subtle lyrics, catchy refrain as well as its overall freshness.

“The choreography had to be scripted and not look like the ‘typical’ gospel video from days gone by but exhibit the seriousness of the audience we want to capture, minister to and entertain without being overly preachy,” says her husband and manager Wisdom Mukaro.

Gospel artistes should market own music

FORMER banker-turned-gospel musician, Tafadzwa Mukaro, yesterday said many gospel artistes lacked effective marketing skills to push their brands, resulting in many of their music shows attracting paltry crowds, compared to other music genres.

Her sentiments came in the wake of a gospel music competition hosted by a local bank at the Harare Gardens, which was poorly attended yet an earlier Zimdancehall show headlined by Enzo Ishall at the same venue had attracted a bumper harvest.

Mukaro, however, told NewsDay Life & Style that while financial constraints often made it difficult for hard-pressed fans to fork out money to attend gospel music shows and programmes, the artistes themselves needed effective marketing skills to reach out to the fans.
